Singer-songwriters, duo's en bands zingen u toe vanaf het kleine intieme podium terwijl u geniet van een speciaal biertje van onze tap.
DINSDAG 20 Maart 2012 Odette Sorber aanvang 21.30 uur
De twintigjarige Odette is een singer/songwriter-talent uit Tilburg. Al sinds haar negende schrijft ze haar eigen songs op de piano, in de stijl van Tori Amos, Sinead o'Connor, Kate Bush en Chi Coltrane. Haar nummers zijn energiek, oprecht, eigenzinnig en een beetje eigenwijs. Odette schrijft vanuit de dingen die ze ziet en laat haar denkbeelden, fantasieën en extremen hierop de vrije loop. De songs zijn herkenbaar en sluiten aan op een gevarieerd publiek. Op haar veertiende nam ze haar eerste demo 'ME' op. Deze cd werd al snel gedraaid op Radio 538. Een jaar later volgde haar tweede demo 'Essentials'. Deze werd genomineerd voor beste cd 2003 Zeeland. Ze trad inmiddels op bij verschillende podia en festivals, waaronder 013 in Tilburg en 't Beest in Goes. Ook won ze enkele prijzen, waaronder de Zeeuwse Belofte (2003) en diverse Kunstbende-prijzen, en stond ze in de regio zuid-finale van de Grote Prijs van Nederland. In juni 2006 had zij een eigen locatie tijdens de jaarlijkse stadswandeling, 'Stad 7' in Tilburg waar zij vijf avonden liedjes speelde. DINSDAG 27 Maart 2012 Danny Keetels & Friends ( Bluesy Rock&Roll Singer Songwriter Music) aanvang 21.30 uur
Danny is al vele jaren actief als zanger/gitarist en liedjesschrijver. Met de band Rezult stond hij op vele grote podia door heel Nederland en momenteel wordt deze trend voorgezet met de rock&roll formatie Twenty Sicks. Naast deze twee (cover)bands heeft Danny door de jaren heen ook veel eigen werk geschreven in uiteenlopende muziekstijlen, varierend van singer-songwriter liedjes tot wat steviger werk voor o.a. bands als Monkstone en Boilerz. Op 27 maart brengt Danny een greep uit dit eigen repetoire akoestisch ten gehore. Hij wordt hierbij ondersteund door Bart van Zandvoort (contrabas) en Hans van de Perre (percussie).

DINSDAG 10 April Loes Swinkels & Henri Zoetbrood aanvang 21.30 uur
Loes Swinkels is een zeer getalenteerd muzikant en liedjesschrijver uit het zuiden des lands. Met een warm maar krachtig stemgeluid en haar sterke ritmische gitaarspel brengt ze haar liedjes vol zelfvertrouwen en recht uit het hart. Haar eerste album 'Passionately Lonely' bevat mooi liedjes o.a. beïnvloed door moderne songwriters. Haar nieuwe werk echter neigt meer en meer naar de roots kant en we hebben dan ook het gevoel dat het beste van Loes nog moet komen.
Henri Zoetbrood is het onbekende talent van Nederlandse bodem. Hij schrijft mooie liedjes die hij met zijn bijzondere hese en soulvolle stem ten gehore brengt tot aan kippenvel toe. Hij wordt o.a. geïnspireerd door Ben Harper, Amos Lee en Ray LaMontagne. Henri staat aan het begin van zijn muziekcarrière maar we verwachten nog veel van hem te gaan horen!
DINSDAG 17 April 2012 Little Birdie (Can) Troubadour aanvang 21.30 uur
When Mark Rheaume, music director at CBC radio, named Orit Shimoni one of his top three Canadian artists of the year, it was in response to her debut album, Cinematic Way. Since its 2006 release, Orit, (musically known as Little Birdie), has been touring across Canada and in Europe, playing festivals, bars, cafes, show venues, house concerts, and even trains.
Her second album, I Left the City Burning, (2009), charted for three months on earshot! And was also a favourite on CKUA. With two independent Canadian albums, and in true troubadour fashion, Orit shed all semblance of a “regular” life, and has been traveling from town to town, performing and recording, in various ensembles. Touring solo, she often performs with local musicians, known and unknown, that she meets on the way. Living on couches and riding by Greyhound bus, doing her own tour bookings, and often invited to more, Little Birdie puts on diverse and engaging shows, and continues to prove her mettle and dedication to the craft and profession, as well as to her own crazy but consistently articulate, sincere and engaging art.
Her third album, Sadder Music, was written and recorded in Berlin, and is due for official release in Canada this fall.
An immensely prolific and versatile songwriter, Little Birdie is hailed for her writing, (which has been compared to that of Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, among others) as well as her moving singing voice, which has been compared to Loretta Lynn and Emmylou Harris, as well as Chrissie Hynde, Patti Smith, Margot Timmins and Neko Case.
Orit has recorded a fourth album while in Berlin, which is in the mixing stages.

Half a decade ago, Halifax native Jon Bryant packed his bags and journeyed across the sea to Europe to travel and unravel the thread surrounding his purpose in life.
While backpacking across the hills of Austria and breaking the soles of his dirt-stained feet in Greece, Jon began to write songs. Described as a phenomenal experience, Jon felt he was figuring out who he was in relation to himself, his place in the world and who he was before God. After this remarkable year, Jon moved to Seattle, to volunteer at various ministries and churches, where he was personally mentored. While living there, Jon was inspired to live a life against society's expectations. The call to return home came and so Jon left and enrolled at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. During his time of art education, Jon became serious about writing music.
Ever the perfectionist, Jon worked hard to craft songs that reflected truth, life and love. These songs ended up on his debut album Two Coasts for Comfort, released in late 2009. After a flourishing year playing in New York, Seattle and the Canadian music scene, recording a music video in Calgary and achieving iTunes success through a featured "single of the week" download from his album, Jon finally hit the road this summer in a cross-Canada tour with Montreal singer-songwriter Gabrielle Papillion.
On their VIA Rail train tour, they'll perform in most of the major cities in each province. Jon recently showcased at the Junos in St. John's, Newfoundland with Stevano UGO, a hip-hop artist from Los Angeles. Recently, Jon was nominated for best new artist, digital artist and inspirational album of the year by Music Nova Scotia and received a covenant award nomination for folk/roots album of the year. Jon released a music video on May 29th entitled the Hallelujah and in August released a video for the song "Think Back". He is working on a new video this fall and is planning for a year of touring through North America and the UK, writing new music and recording another album in the new year.
Since releasing his debut album and receiving nation-wide exposure through itunes, Jon Bryant has been touring relentlessly throughout North America. After a successful first year, (ECMA, Music Nova Scotia and Covenant award nominations and two cross Canada tours) 2010 proved to be the first step towards a very bright future. A Singer/songwriter at heart, Jon's music is beautiful in its melancholy, strength and character conveyed through nicely contrasting styles. His live set is sure to hit spiritual highs and sweet, somber lows. Jon is activly touring throughout Canada and recording a new album. His full length follow-up album is expected to launch at the end of 2011. Jon is an artist advocate for World Vision and works closely with them on tour and abroad.

Emma Black left home with a battered second hand guitar and a one-way ticket to Amsterdam at the age of seventeen.
She learned her craft busking on the streets of European cities and, developing a particular love for blues and folk music, tracked down many old-time players to show her how to play. As time passed, Emma moved her music off the street and into the bars and clubs where she found herself a willing and receptive audience.
After she and 50 others contracted near fatal septicemia from toxic waste dumped on the traveler site where she was living, Emma returned to the UK. Once back home, she formed a group called The Immigrants. Over its two-year lifespan, in addition to its own headline gigs, her new band opened for Manchester giants The Fall as well as international stars ,Hugh Masekela and Salif Keita.
As a solo artist Emma has supported a huge variety of musicians and bands, including The Indigo Girls, BBC 2011 Folk Award winners Nancy Kerr and James Fagan, The Zombies and Dr Feelgood. Over the years, she built herself a loyal following and in 2007 recorded her debut album Where Dark Horse Roam.
Recorded on a shoestring budget on an old analogue desk by Paul Hemmings of Liverpool bands The La’s and The Lightning Seeds, it was described by the press as ‘a collection of ‘stunningly honest songs that sits somewhere in a musical genre between Gillian Welch, The Be Good Tanyas and Beth Orton.’
Since making her album, Emma has undertaken eight successful European tours. She has performed live concerts as well as playing on radio and television in the UK, Holland, Belgium and Germany.
In November 2010, Emma made available her first digital release, The Crossroads Radio Sessions . Recorded on location in The Netherlands in front of a small live radio audience, this positive and intimate album showcases Emma’s ability to hold captive an audience with her emotive songs, exceptional voice and her skilled guitar playing.
Emma is currently working on her next full-length studio album, scheduled for release in 2012 on her own record label, Cornflower Records. The album will feature twelve brand new songs and she is excited to be collaborating with some of the finest grassroots musicians around today.
Always eager to travel, Emma will be marking the release with a full European and UK tour.
Dinsdag 8 Mei 2012 ‘Songs of Aran’ aanvang 21.30 uur
Mijn naam is Aran Jeurissen, een Nederlandse singer-songwriter met Ierse roots. Ik speel onder de naam ‘Songs of Aran’ mijn eigen songs. Ik heb net een nieuwe cd uit, 11 songs, die een mix zijn tussen folk, pop, indie en een vleugje new wave. Deze cd is opgenomen met een aantal vrienden van me, Taeke Stol op Bas (Handsome Harry Company) en Joost van Vlerken op drums. De cd is opgenomen door Theo Vogelaars en gemastered door Attie Bauw. Ik ben er ontzettend trots op, ik dat ik mijn eigen sound goed heb neer kunnen zetten.
Live speel ik vooralsnog deze songs solo. Vaak in kleine settings, op singer-songwriter avonden. Dat gaat erg goed, mensen reageren erg enthousiast op mijn live preformances. Ik hou van interactie met het publiek en de songs krijgen live ook een wat rauwer randje.
Voordat ik me gestort heb op mijn akoestische project, waarbij ik inmiddels met vele andere muzikanten waaronder Mark Chadwick (The Levellers), Iain Matthews (Fairport Convention, Plainsong), BJ Baartmans heb mogen spelen, speelde ik in verschillende bands. Daarvan was Fold de meest succesvolle met optredens o.a in Paradiso, 013 en de Melkweg. Nu is het tijd om, populair gezegd, mijn eigen ding te doen. Dat eigen ding houdt voor mij in; pakkende liedjes schrijven, met een vleugje sentiment, en deze met passie live vertolken.
Naast het live spelen ben ik weer druk aan het schrijven, dat doe ik eigenlijk altijd wel. Er wordt gewerkt aan een nieuwe website en vanaf januari gaat ‘songs of aran’ ook in bandvorm repteren. We blijven bezig.
Dinsdag 15 Mei 2012 Five A aanvang 21.30 uur
Five A. Five A is een passievol muziekgezelschap waarbinnen Ties Smits op geheel eigen-wijze zijn liedjes schrijft en arrangeert. Liedjes over geloof, hoop, liefde, vreugde, kinderen, ouders, hartzeer, verlangen, verdriet, kortom alles wat zich in het leven afspeelt. Five A beweegt zich binnen het singer-songwriter genre, maar maakt soms speelse uitstapjes naar de blues, Zuid-Amerika, scheert soms rakelings langs de pop en de country, zonder in dit alles de typische Five A sound te verliezen. Five A maakt kleine liedjes groot, en grote liedjes klein in de voor hun kenmerkende sobere manier van muziek maken, getekend door fantastische zang van Heidy en Mirella, subtiele baslijnen van Willy en ingetogen gitaarspel van Ties. Heidy - zang, accordeon. Mirella - zang, percussie. Willy - bas, mondharmonica. Ties - gitaar.
DINSDAG 23 Mei 2012 BLOEDGRIJS (Singer-song) aanvang 21.30 uur
Bloed Grijs is een trio bestaand uit Herman van Tongerloo, Gert Hoeksma en Peter Fokkema.Herman van Tongerloo heeft zijn sporen ruimschoots verdiend als componist en saxofonist. Herman schrijft al jaren tekst en muziek onder andere voor VPRO, Ikon. Maakt ook filmmuziek o.a. de filmmuziek voor de korte film die in 2005 het Gouden Kalf won (‘de Grotten van Han van Vloten’ van Ellen Blom). Gert Hoeksma heeft vanaf zijn jeugd in pop- en folkgroepen gespeeld. In de begin jaren 80 was hij één van de medeoprichters van Jack Spijkerman cabaret "Dubbel en Dwars", waarmee in 1982 het Leids Cabaret Festival werd gewonnen en daarna het klein theatercircuit werd bespeeld. Hij heeft ook aan een aantal radioprogramma's meegewerkt. Na zijn tijd bij "Dubbel en Dwars" heeft Gert in verschillende samenstellingen muziek gemaakt.Peter Fokkema heeft een eigen studio, is audio engineer/producer en multi instrumentalist. Peter heeft jaren het clubcircuit van Nederland doorkruist met verschillende bands, waaronder The Cursed Fortress en the Vendetta's.Peter is eigenaar van Peter & Zout.
DINSDAG 29 MEI DIRK LANDISCH(UK) aanvang ca 18.00 uur
Known for his melancholic, alternative folk Dirk Landish is the UK based performer songwriter acclaimed for his whisky viscousvoice and commanding lyrics. His self-produced debut album “Blissful Drunken Blues” has a vintage warmth that will endure many listens and still throw up new surprises time and again.
Dirk is currently performing with a three-peace line up of Guitar, Bass and vocals. The three have an excellent dynamic bringing Dirk’s songs to life and always leaving his audiences wanting more.
